VIENNA / CLASSICAL CONCERT GUIDE

Christmas concerts in Vienna

Updated

YOUR QUICK ANSWER

Vienna’s Christmas options include the Classic Ensemble at St Peter’s, Magic Trumpet at St Anne’s, and Schönbrunn packages combining a market visit with Mozart and Strauss. Choose by music and inclusions: a market voucher is different from a palace tour. Regular year-round concerts are another option when your preferred seasonal date is unavailable.

A Christmas church concert

St Peter’s has a separately listed Christmas and New Year Classic Ensemble programme. Do not assume a ticket for the regular concert is interchangeable with the seasonal performance. The chosen date and category identify the concert you are booking.

St Anne’s Magic Trumpet concert combines trumpet and organ with seasonal reflections. It is a different programme from the regular St Anne’s classical concert. The refreshed Christmas listing describes about sixty-five minutes without an interval and a free choice of available seats.

Schönbrunn: market, concert or a fuller visit

The Christmas market and Mozart-Strauss concert package includes a market voucher for the items named in the product, plus the chosen concert category. The tour package adds an after-hours palace visit and audio guide. These are separate inclusions, so choose the combined option only if you want the tour as part of the outing.

Keep outdoor weather in mind. A market visit needs winter clothing and appropriate footwear even when the concert itself is indoors. Use the booking confirmation to plan the order of activities; we do not publish a fixed start time that could differ on your date.

If seasonal dates do not fit

A regular Mozart, Vivaldi or Strauss concert can still make an evening feel special. Compare the year-round venues if the seasonal product has no dates on sale through our partner. The live booking option determines whether the event is available, not the fact that its information page still exists.

We do not advertise the off-sale House of Strauss Christmas night, Vienna Christmas Express or Schönbrunn Christmas shuttle. A historical event name is not evidence of a currently bookable programme.

Choose the right New Year experience

Christmas and New Year visitor concerts are distinct from the Vienna Philharmonic New Year’s Concert on January’s opening day. We do not sell that orchestra’s event. Our year-end guide explains the separate Palais Ferstel performances and the official Philharmonic allocation process.

After the Christmas season, this page remains a planning resource. New seasonal dates and booking buttons appear only when the relevant options are actually on sale. Until then, the year-round concert hub is the useful next step.

Your Vienna concert questions, answered

Which church concerts have Christmas programmes?

The separately listed options are St Peter’s Christmas and New Year Classic Ensemble concert and St Anne’s Magic Trumpet concert. Check the selected date rather than assuming a regular concert ticket includes the seasonal programme.

What is Magic Trumpet?

It is St Anne’s seasonal trumpet-and-organ concert, with spoken seasonal reflections. The refreshed listing describes about sixty-five minutes without an interval and free choice of available seats.

Does the Schönbrunn market package include a palace tour?

Only the option explicitly including the after-hours palace tour does. The market-voucher and concert package alone should not be treated as palace-room admission.

Can I attend a regular concert in December?

Use the live dates for the year-round products. A regular concert can be an alternative to a seasonal programme, but dates must be checked on the selected booking.

Are House of Strauss Christmas tickets linked here?

No off-sale House of Strauss Christmas night is offered. We only show booking controls for products confirmed on sale.

Is a Christmas or New Year visitor concert the Philharmonic event?

No. The Vienna Philharmonic New Year’s Concert is a different event and is not sold here. Our New Year guide links to the orchestra’s official information.
